About this place
The miso sauce is one of the details diners remember at Hayashi Gen, with some saying it works just as well with loin as it does with offal. Another diner found the thick, miso-like sauce unfamiliar at first, but felt it paired better with the meat as the meal went on. Reactions to the sauce vary, but trying it with loin or offal is one way to get a feel for the restaurant’s style.
The menu ranges from salted tongue, skirt steak and premium short ribs to cuts such as omasum, senmai, red senmai and gizzard. Namul, grilled vegetables and chanja offer a change of pace between plates of meat. To round out the meal, there is bibimbap served with soup or gukbap served with pickles.
Draft beer comes in small, medium and large sizes. Sake and chuhai in plum, lemon, lime or Calpis flavours are also available. The restaurant in Sentai, Sumiyoshi Ward, Osaka, opens from 17:00 Tuesday to Sunday and stays open until 0:00 the following day. It is closed on Mondays and accepts cash only.
